With information currently exceeding Moore's law, Cognizant technology solutions and Ray business technologies will be forced to deal with 50 times of more data come 2020 while increasing the workforce by only 1.5 percent. With this imminent challenge in cognizance, the adoption of Big data models into the organizations existing infrastructure is a vital consideration when looking at the impact posed by Big data. Introduction Big data is obviously the next big thing. Every publication that focuses on it promises a great deal of insight CITATION Jam11 \l 1033 (James, 2011) . Organizations therefore need to plan their networks early before the issue arrives. Most organizations like the aspect of unravelling actionable, unexpected business insights, through the use of sophisticated analytics to vast amounts of unstructured, structured data. Big data definitely comes with a huge price. Specifically, networks could get slammed by such technology. Issues around the impact of big data on networks are a subject of concern to technology experts. Regardless of the fact that tools on big data are undeveloped and persons with skills on its use are very few, big data seems to burden information technology infrastructure as well as its operations. Essentially, this companies cannot put a stop to Big data, their only alternative is to prepare for it. Unfortunately, big data comes with huge networking demands. Nevertheless, the intelligence or data from big data is of any value if they can be adequately harnessed or get into various destinations on time. Network requirements The huge impact of big data on networking on these two companies becomes more imminent as they try to grow and expand their technological adoption. It is obvious that their network traffic would exponentially increase from collection of big data as well as significant increase from backups of big data. Considering this network traf fic surge triggered by big data, these companies would have to prepare on frameworks to mitigate on such conditions. Adjectives That Look Like Adverbs Adjectives That Look Like Adverbs Adjectives That Look Like Adverbs By Mark Nichol What’s the visual difference between an adjective and an adverb? Well, all adverbs end in -ly, and no adjectives do, right? Wrong on both counts. Some adverbs, called flat adverbs, lack the -ly suffix. The words in this category, like straight, can be used both as adverbs (â€Å"Drive straight through the intersection†) and adjectives (â€Å"He drew a straight line†). Some adverbs, like slow, are interchangeable with their -ly forms (see this post). Others, like hard, are distinct in usage from the adverbial -ly form (â€Å"I worked hard†is opposite in meaning from â€Å"I hardly worked†) and have no adjectival -ly form. At the same time, dozens of adjectives end in -ly, and many have no adverbial equivalent. (Some adjectives that pertain to periods of time, such as daily, weekly, and monthly, can be both adjectives and adverbs: â€Å"They followed a daily regimen†; â€Å"They followed the regimen daily.†) For example, friendly can modify a noun (â€Å"She wore a friendly smile†), but although one can write, â€Å"She looked friendly,†it means she had a friendly look, not that she looked at someone in a friendly manner. (Friendly is not an adverb; friendlily is, though I’ve never seen it used, and one must otherwise use the adverbial phrase in the previous sentence, or a similar one, in place of friendly.) Other adjectives ending in -ly that are not also adverbs include costly (â€Å"It was a costly event†), miserly (â€Å"That’s a miserly attitude†), and unruly (â€Å"He’s an unruly boy†). One cannot, for example, act costly, miserly, or unruly; one is said, for example, to spend in a costly manner, to behave in a miserly fashion, or to engage in unruly behavior. Adjectives ending in -y can be converted to adverbs with the insertion of -il- before the final letter, as in frosty (â€Å"She gave him a frosty look†) becoming frostily (â€Å"She looked at him frostily†), but, friendlily notwithstanding, few adjectives can be converted to adverbs in this manner. Mirror by Sylvia Plath - Essay Example On its surface, Plath’s poem seems to be simply about a mirror and the woman who continues to look into it day after day. The story of the mirror is told from the perspective of the mirror itself as it stands nonjudgmental in the corner of a room and looking endlessly at the far wall, which is â€Å"pink, with speckles†(7). The mirror presents itself as nonjudgmental, but there are hints throughout the poem that it does judge those who look into it by the way in which they judge themselves. The second stanza of the poem allows the mirror to transform itself into a lake where (presumably) the same woman peeks in to search her reflection. In this stanza, time speeds up, first taking on human dimensions and then speeding into â€Å"each morning†(16) and finally counting down â€Å"day after day†(18) as the young girl becomes an old woman. The poem seems to capture the sense of time as it is experienced in a lifetime. In childhood, time is meaningless, it stands still and goes nowhere, like the mirror placidly sitting in the room and contemplating the pink wall. â€Å"I have looked at it so long / I think it is a part of my heart†(7-8) just like the child is a child for all of its experience and often thinks it will remain so. However, the wall, like childhood, â€Å"flickers. / Faces and darkness separate us over and over†(8-9) as the child begins to grow into a young woman. The second stanza makes this point much clearer as the young woman continues to look into the mirror for signs of the lost child and finds instead evidence of the aging woman. â€Å"She rewards me with tears and an agitation of hands†(13) when she looks for a fairer reflection such as what is seen by the romantic light of candles or the moon, yet she cannot deny the call of the reflection as she returns every day. Comparison: Buddhism And Jainism 1) There are many similarities and many differences between Buddhism and Jainism. To begin, we will start by discussing the similarities in both. In Jainism and Buddhism rather than having a God or creator there is a teacher. Both religions do not accept the permanent power of God as the creator of the world. Buddha and the last of the 24 thirthankaras (mahavira) spread their experience of finding liberation to communities and people began to follow. In Buddhism there was the development of sangha through Buddhaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s early disciples it allowed anyone to adapt to his teaching and as for Jainism it does not formally recognize the caste system. Therefore, followers came from all castes and levels of society. Another similarity is the concept of living in a nonviolent way. The first teaching of Buddhism is to abstain from violence and protect all life. All things have a living spirit. In Jainism, nonviolence is not just about being abusive or to people rather it is to not b e destructive toward nature and all living things. Like Buddhists, Jains believe that our actions influence the future course of our current life, and of our lives to come. Both religions agree that death is a natural process of life and want to reach a state of nirvana or liberation. However, there are differences in both religions. For instance, in Jainism the soul exists everywhere, not only in living beings, but in inanimate objects as well. The soul in Jainism reaches it s highest state when the soul liberates itself from the bondage of karmas. But Buddhism holds completely dissimilar views. Karma in Buddhism, defines our actions of body and speech, and mind. Things we choose to do or say or think set karma into motion. The law of karma is a law of cause and effect. According to Buddhism, soul is not a permanent; it is ever changing. Therefore, a person must follow the noble eightfold path to reach liberation. Jains believe that karma is a form of matter which is not simply the effect of ones actions, but a real substance that runs into each individual body. When particles of karma attach to a life it will affect that soul. This karmic substance remains with a being until good conduct and self purification eliminates them. Another difference between both religions would be the choice of food. In Jainism you must be a vegetarian and Buddhism it is a choice you can make whether or not you can be carnivore or be a vegetarian. Hence, there is similarities in Buddhism and Jainism where there is no creator or god but rather a teacher. In addition, there are no caste systems in both religions, there is a concept of living in a non-violent way and want to reach liberation. Nevertheless, both religions have a different perspective on soul and karma. 2) There are many differences between Buddhism and Hinduism. Buddhism is a non-theistic religion which means that they sense spiritual reality without a personal deity or deities. There is a single founder in Buddhism which was known as Siddhartha Gautama also known as Buddha. Buddha does not identify on images of unseen reality. In other words only believe in what you can physically see. Buddha is a teacher not a god. Unlike Hinduism, which is theistic religion that practices the worship of many gods, Hinduism is formed of various traditions and has no single founder. The feeling is that the celestial has innumerable forms. Buddha taught by accepting how we build distress for ourselves we can become liberated. When he first experienced the world he became disheartened and went on to preach that life is full of grief and suffering. He wanted to find liberation for suffering and emphasizes on sufferings in the existing world. The Hindu last scriptures Upanishads recognize that sufferi ng is a natural part of the human state. It takes the suffering in human life and places it to previous karma or actions of the human being. Hinduism does not stress suffering as much as Buddhism rather they set greater stress on the bliss enjoyed on experiencing on a coming together with God or the Self. Since we are all an emergence of God, bliss is a fundamental part of our nature. The Upanishads stressed on this experience of bliss to inspire the Hindu devotees to experience Moksha- liberation. In addition, Buddhism does not follow the Brahmanic tradition like Hinduism. Buddhism withdraws the ideas of eternal self or soul (Atman) and eternity or transcendent reality (Brahman); this condition separates it from Hinduism. The goal to Buddhism is to reach nirvana, enlightenment and the end of suffering. Buddhism believes in reaching nirvana through the four noble truths and eightfold path. Unlike Buddhism there are many ways like yoga (Jnana, Karma, Raja and Bhakti) to reach liberat ion in Hinduism. Reincarnation is another factor in Hinduism and Buddhism. In Hinduism, it is said that the soul continues after death and goes into another body. The soul can rebirth into animals or plants depending on the karma. Unlike, In Theravada Buddhism, there is the principle of anatta, or no soul, which states there is no continuing being that carries on from one life to the next. Therefore, rebirths are not handed out but are simply the natural results of good or bad endeavors.

Compare the way that Charlotte Bronte and John Steinbeck show the theme of friendship as shown by Jane Eyre and Helen Burns in â€Å"Jane Eyre†and Lennie Small and George Milton in â€Å"Of Mice and Men†The theme of friendship is so important in both â€Å"Of Mice and Men†and â€Å"Jane Eyre†because it helps the characters to survive emotionally. Friendships are important because they help people socialise which stops them from feeling isolated and lonely. Another reason why friendship is important is because of the mutual trust and reliance. Loyalty is also a very important element of friendship. Jane Eyre is a young girl of ten years old, whose mother and father died when she was very young. No blood relative was around to look after her so she was put into the care of her aunt, Mrs Reed. She falls foul of Mrs Reed and her children and is soon segregated from their company, being accused of †appalling behaviour†. As punishment for this Jane is sent to Lowood institute, for orphaned girls. She soon meets her future best friend, Helen Burns. It was made clear early on in the novel that Jane was segregated from Mrs Reed’s children. An example of this is when Jane hides away to read to her cousin John’s disgust. He becomes cruel and physically abusive towards Jane, her resulting anger and refusal to be ordered around by John results in Jane being wrongfully sent to the â€Å"red room†. The weather in this scene resembles the mood that Jane is in. She becomes terrified of the â€Å"red room†as this room was where her uncle died; Jane soon passes out from the terror of this experience. Jane later admits to being lonely saying †I stood lonely enough†¦but to that feeling of isolation I was accustomed†. It is also evident that George and Lennie are isolated from the way that they and other ranchers constantly play solitaire. One of the many differences between the characters is that Jane Eyre travels alone unlike George and Lennie who are both travel companions. Jane has a very outspoken and bold personality, we learn about this on several occasions like when she stands up to Mrs Reed saying that â€Å"I am not deceitful: if I were, I should say I loved you; but I declare I do not love you†. Jane Eyre soon joins Lowood boarding school for orphaned girls, where she sees how the pupils are treated like robots where they have instructions and orders fired at them by teachers. The pupils have to dress the same, walk at the same pace and are assigned to sit at the same places. Jane and Helen become friends because they are outcasts who haven’t got anyone to socialise with. Jane notices Helen sitting in the playground while everyone else is socialising. She starts up a friendship with Helen because she is curious about Lowood and wants to find out more from a senior girl. We know this from the endless amount of questions that she asks Helen about her time at the school. †Do you come along way from here?††You must wish to leave Lowood?††But that teacher Miss Scatcherd, is so cruel to you?†George and Lennie become companions, When Lennie’s aunt Clara asked George to look after Lennie just she died. There relationship is that of a father and son. This is clear when we see George lecturing Lennie over killing both a mouse and a puppy – †That mouse ain’t fresh Lennie besides, you’ve broke it pettin’ it â€Å". Another example of this is the way that Lennie keeps asking George to tell him about what it would be like if they had land – †Now tell how it is with us†Lennie says George replies saying †Were gonna get the jack together and we’re gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an’ a cow and some pigs†Jane and Helens relationship is that of an older and younger sister. Helen passes on advice and words of wisdom to Jane while Jane helps Helen to be more outspoken and less reserved. Helen Burns and Jane Eyre know how to hold a conversation unlike George and Lennie who have to put up with awkward silences throughout the story. Also Helen and Jane are of similar character, much different to George and Lennie who are very different. I say because Lennie has the intelligence of a child where as George is far more advanced. Jane and Helens first conversation; â€Å"Is your book interesting?†â€Å"I like it†â€Å"Who was Naomi Brocklehurst?†â€Å"The lady who built the new part of this house†¦Ã¢â‚¬ â€Å"And what are the other teachers called?†â€Å"The one with red cheeks is called Miss Smith†¦Ã¢â‚¬ â€Å"Of mice and men†is set in Salinas valley, California. This was where John Steinbeck â€Å"was born and which he knew all his life†. Around this time â€Å"The great depression†had kicked into American society. This stemmed from the Wall Street crash in 1929. A lot of the American population had to move around the country due to the shortage of work. These people were often poor and uneducated. Charlotte Bronte first published Jane Eyre under the name of â€Å"Currer Bell†in 1847. Bronte adopted this name because being a writer weren’t seen as correct jobs for women. At the time the book was published England was under â€Å"the industrial reveloution†. Children were often sent out to work at an early age because of their parent’s lack of income. In both â€Å"Jane Eyre†and â€Å"Of Mice and Men†the authors put across the theme of friendship by the way that they portray their characters. Jane and Helen are seen as sisters, isolation has led them to become closer to each other. George and Lennie’s friendship strengthens by the way that Lennie depends on and trusts George completely. They become so close that George is devastated when Lennie’s death separates them. The bad side to the friendship is that if George did go on to lead a life that he has been threatening to lead without Lennie, that Lennie wouldn’t be able to survive because he is completely dependant on George. All the characters share a dream whether it’s George and Lennie’s dream to have their own land or Jane and Helen’s to be free and make their own decisions. John Steinbeck shocks the audience in the last chapter in the way that Lennie dies. It was obvious that Lennie would soon get into trouble; we know that trouble follows Lennie around because of the incidents in â€Å"weed†and the fight with Curley. We learn that the reason George kills Lennie is to save him from being hurt and tortured by the witch hunting mob led by Curley. Lennie’s downfall was how he didn’t know his own strength. Both characters die peacefully; Lennie dies thinking of his dream about feeding rabbits alfalfa on his own land while Helen dies pleased because she has taught Jane everything she knows. Both Charlotte Bronte and John Steinbeck use imagery to represent the friendships between characters. Examples of this is when the weather is wet, misty or dark it means the characters have fallen out or are going through a bad patch. When the weather is warm and sunny it shows the characters are getting along well and are happy. Finally I think the authors want us to reminisce on the friendships between the characters and how we would cope if we were in their shoes.
